President Offers His Own Health Reform Plan

Preparatory to Thursday's health care reform summit, President Obama has offered his own plan. An unnamed spokesperson for the White House called it the "opening bid" for the summit. The President's plan very much resembles the Senate bill passed several weeks ago. It does include a review board for increase in rates by insurance companies. It eliminates the the special Medicaid deal for Montana, but provides more funds to assist states with increased Medicaid costs. It also boosts subsidies to help low and moderate income people buy health care coverage on the exchanges. The President's plan does not include a public option. You can read Washington Post coverage of the plan here, and New York Times here. And you can read the text of the President's plan, courtesy of Kaiser Health News, here.
