Obama Makes Preference for "Cadillac" Insurance Tax Known

The House bill pays for much of health reform by taxes on high-end earners; the Senate bill pays for it with taxes on high-end insurance policies. As Democrats from both houses work to produce a combined bill, President Obama made his preference know today: he prefers the tax on "Cadillac" insurance policies. Unions argue that their members have earned those policies through negotiations in which they gave up wage demands for better health care plans. Read more from the Chicago Tribune here.
