Dems Mull Healthcare Options

The Associated Press reports that Democratic congressional leaders were meeting today to consider potential changes to the Senate health reform bill that could make it acceptable to House members. The changes would be implemented by a budget process requiring only a simple majority in the Senate. With the changes made, the House would then pass the Senate bill.

At his rally in Ohio yesterday, Pres. Obama seemed to back away from the idea of breaking the reform into separate into separate legislative initiatives because of the interdependency of the pieces. He also indicated that he would continue the fight for health reform: "There are things that have to get done. This is our best chance to do it. We can't keep on putting this off. I am not going to walk away just because it's hard."
