Senate Debate Begins; Dems Optimistic
As the debate on the Senate health care reform bill got underway today, it faced a long list of proposed amendments, but Democrats were generally taking an optimistic stance toward passing a bill before Christmas. Sen Charles Schumer said "We're all talking to one another right now. Every Democrat, every single one, wants to get a bill done. Everyone realizes that we're going to have to come together on a whole myriad of different issues." You can read more about the proposed amendments in the Washington Post.
