After Caucus Senate Dems Back Away from Medicare Expansion

The Wal Street Journal reports that Democrats leaving an rare evening caucus session with Majority Leader Harry Reid appeared to be backing away from a controversial plan to expand Medicare coverage. According to the Journal, Sen. Evan Bayh indicated that there was "general consensus" to end the deadlock. The Democrats meet with President Obama tomorrow. Read WSJ coverage here.

Meantime, the Huffington Post reports that White House Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel met with Sen. Reid yesterday and encouraged him to reach an agreement with Sen. Lieberman, exhorting Reid to "get it done, get it done." Here is Huffington Post coverage of the Emanuel/Reid meeting.
