Poll Shows Majority of Hoosiers Back Public Option
A Research 2000 poll conducted last weekend, showed that 52 percent of Indiana residents favored the government offering everyone a government administered health insurance plan like Medicare. 42 percent opposed such a plan. Because of his pivotal role in the reform debate, the poll also measured support for Senator Bayh; it found that 62 precent of Hoosiers had a favorable impression of him, while only 30 percent had an unfavorable view. However, 29 percent indicated they would be less likely to vote for him if he supported a Republican filibuster to block a reform bill; 55 percent said it would have no effect on their support. 54 percent of Democrats said they would be less likely to vote for him in a primary if he supported a filibuster; six percent said they'd be more likely to vote for him, and 40 percent said it would have no effect. The poll was commissioned by Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC)and Democracy for America. You can read more from CBS News here.
