Bob Dole Endorses Reform

Another prominent Republican has come out to support health care reform. Former Senate leader and 1996 Presidential nominee Bob Dole released a statement with former Democratic Senate leader Tom Daschle saying
"The American people have waited decades, and if this moment passes us by, it may be decades more before there is another opportunity . . . . The current approaches suggested by the Congress are far from perfect, but they do provide some basis on which Congress can move forward, and we urge the joint leadership to get together for America’s sake."
In separate comments Dole blamed partisanship for the current situation: "Sometimes people fight you just to fight you. They don’t want Reagan to get it, they don’t want Obama to get it, so we’ve got to kill it."

Dole said he'd heard from some Republicans about coming out for health reform, including one “very prominent Republican, who happens to be the Republican leader of the Senate.” Ouch! Apparently Mr. Dole doesn't care to be pushed around. Sen. McConnell denies any contact with Dole.
