Nelson Asks Reid to Withdraw the Nebraska Deal
Apparently Sen. Ben Nelson has thought better of the the deal he made with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid whereby his home state of Nebraska would have all increases to its Medicaid costs that may result from the health care reform paid for by the federal government. Nelson has maintained that his intent was to create an opportunity for such coverage to be provided for all states. And he asked Sen. Reid to include such a provision in the final bill that is being negotiated. Apparently the political blowback was a problem to Nelson. You can read more about his change of heart from Kaiser Health News here.
