Close to Home: Lafayette Health Care Costs Rise 15% in One Year
Last week Lafayette city officials announced that the costs of providing health care for city employees ($6,035,000) next year will be 15 percent more than this year's cost ($5.248 million). And that is less than previous projections of 23 percent or about $7 million. The relatively tame 15 percent jump was credited to Lafayette's participation in a health care trust with other Indiana municipalities through the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. "I really believe that the pooling of resources and the pooling of assets is the way for local governments to save money," Mayor Roswarski said. You can read more about the city's health care costs from the Journal and Courier here.
