Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says a vote to begin debate on a health care bill may come as early as Friday; he anticipates that the Senate may stay in session over the weekend to get it done. Opening debate requires 60 votes and Republicans will likely filibuster. It isn't clear that Sen. Reid has the 60 votes.
Meanwhile the Congressional Budget Office "score" for the senate bill is eagerly awaited, and will likely determine if the bill can go forward as it is or will require substantive tweaking. The CBO score won't be available before Tuesday. For more on the goings-on in the Senate, take a look at Kaiser Health Care News.
