Bayh Will Vote to Open Debate
Sen. Evan Bayh put to rest any concerns that he would prevent the Senate health care reform bill from even being debated. Last night he became the first centrist Democrat to commit to voting "yes' on the bill's first procedural vote (followed shortly thereafter by Sen. Ben Nelson). Even more intriguing was his hint that he will vote for the final bill. Bayh told The Hill, "At the end of the process, I'll avoid the Washington two-step of voting to go forward but then voting against the final bill. But this is just a starting point, so at this point I do think there's a difference." You can read more in The Hill.
