Sen. Bayh: We Will Pass Health Care Reform and It Will Have a Public Option
Senator Evan Bayh told a very receptive audience at the Tippecanoe County Jefferson-Jackson Dinner tonight that the Congress will pass health care reform this year, and "yes, there will be a public option." His statement would appear to lay to rest any concern that Bayh would work to block its passage, though it is not to say that he won't fight for his position. He complained that his position had been somewhat misconstrued in the media in the past few days. He said that his concern has been that a public option would drive up insurance costs for the vast majority who have private insurance plans of Medicare.
