League of Women Voters Hosts Health Care Reform Infomrational Meeting

The League of Women Voters of Greater Lafayette will present a public information meeting featuring James G. Anderson, Ph.D., professor of medical sociology and health communication at Purdue. The meeting will be on Tuesday, October 27, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Tippecanoe County Public Library, 627 South St., Lafayette. Professor Anderson will talk on these aspects of reform:
  1. The reasons why the present health care system is unsustainable (e.g., rising costs of health care in general as well as Medicare costs, rising number of uninsured)
  2. The major reform proposals in the U.S. House and Senate Bills
  3. The positions of the insurance companies, pharmaceutical industry, providers (AMA and AHA), business community on the reform proposals
  4. His forecast of the possibilities for reform.
There will be an opportunity for audience members to submit written questions.
