Saturday the Tea Party crowd mustered about 70,000 protesters for a march on Washington. Amid the posters of Barack Obama as Hitler or Che Guevara and signs saying things like "Traitors Terrorists Run Our Government" and "Don't Blame Me. I Voted for the 'American,'" and "We've Come Unarmed--This Time," was the third ranking Republican in the US House of Representatives, Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana. And was he calming those turbulent waters to encourage a civil discourse on the great civic issue of our day? Not exactly:
"How we as conservatives respond to these challenges could determine whether America retains her place in the world as a beacon of freedom, or whether we slip into the abyss that has swallowed much of Europe in an avalanche of socialism."
Europe swallowed up in an avalanche of socialism? Didn't the Cold War end a while back? Didn't we actually win?
