Michael Steele Changes His Tune on Medicare--in 24 Hours!

Yesterday RNC Chair Michael Steele was out promoting the GOP Seniors Bill of Rights, and supporting Medicare to the hilt: "We need to protect Medicare and not cut it in the name of 'health-insurance reform,'" Steele wrote in an Washington Post op-ed. That, however, was yesterday. Today on Fox News he was attacking Medicare:
"The reality of it is that, you know, this single payer program known as Medicare is a very good example of what we should not have happen with all of our health care. . . .Government cannot run a health care system. They've already shown that. Trust the private markets to do it the right way."
It's hard to see how this advances the debate or clarifies the Republican position. Here is a story on Mr. Steele's sudden change of heart.
